What is a wheel Alignment?
Aligning a vehicle's wheels involves very precisely measuring and adjusting the angle of your wheels so that they run perfectly parallel to each other and are correctly aligned to the road surface.
Why do my wheels need such precise aligning?
If one of your wheels is slanting even slightly left and the others are facing straight ahead this creates ‘pulling' or dragging from that wheel, over time this affects your suspension, steering and the overall safety of your vehicle. Wrongly aligned tyres will have an effect on your ability to steer your car - and this can be a small ‘pull' on the wheel right up to extreme cases where you could have trouble keeping your car under control - especially in an emergency situation like having to brake or swerve suddenly to avoid something on the road.
Why can't my tyres just stay aligned?
There are so many things that can mess up your cars wheel alignment. Basic wear and tear, rough driving, potholes, curb hits and speed bumps will all affect your cars wheel alignment.
What are the signs my car needs a wheel alignment
If your tyres go out of alignment the car might feel like its pulling to one side, or even side to side, or your steering wheel might feel ‘off centre'. Another sign is if your tyres seem to be wearing down unevenly, or if one tyre is balding faster than the others. Most of the time the gradual decline of your wheel alignment means you don't notice the change in the way your car drives - but you certainly can notice a sudden improvement once your tyres get properly aligned.
